Russell S. Wiggs

Over thirty-five years in the field of labour relations and employment with public sector employers and particularly health care employers, has provided Mr. Wiggs with considerable experience and depth of knowledge of all aspects of labour relations. His personal integrity, knowledge, professionalism, analytical abilities, facilitation skills and adaptability are strengths built with his vast experience.

Prior to entering the world of Labour Relations, Scott had a varied career as a chef in the culinary world, including his service in the Canadian Navy on board Canada’s Oberon Class submarines from 1979 to 1984, multiple restaurants and institutions, hospitals and even a prison. It is from this point he began what would turn out to be a long labour relations career in 1989 as a treasurer in the Union Local of the hospital where he worked at the time. He subsequently served the union as a full-time member of the Executive followed by an appointment to the staff position of Director, Membership Services.

He moved to the employer side in the year 2000 when he was recruited by the former HA5 in Drumheller Alberta and subsequently by the former David Thompson Health Region followed by being the first Labour Relations Consultant with the Provincial Health Authorities of Alberta.[1]

Scott has also worked with the Government of Saskatchewan, (including a secondment to the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board), Vancouver Island Health Authority and  finally found himself with Covenant Health Canada (Alberta) up to retirement in 2023.

Given his extensive experiences, it is not surprising he found retired life to be too quiet for his liking. Therefore he has re-entered the busy and often challenging world of employer labour relations.
